About Richard Parks

Richard Parks is a former Welsh International rugby player turned adventurer and extreme environment athlete. In 2011 he became the first person to climb the highest mountain on each of the world’s 7 continents and stand on all 3 poles (North Pole, South Pole and the summit of Mt Everest) within 7 months. In 2014 he became the fastest Brit in history to ski solo and unsupported from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole.

The Diet Consultant worked with Richard as GSK Human Performance Lab’s Expert Dietitian in 2013, leading up to The Brutal and his Antarctica expedition.

Working with the team at the GSK HPL in preparation for my record breaking Solo Antarctica expedition, it was awesome to work closely with Sharmain. In particular, managing my race fuelling systems to perform in the double ironman event (The Brutal) which I used as the final stage of preparation for my expedition. With the race being only 4 weeks before I left for Antarctica, it was a critical time for me to be completely dialed with my diet, calorific requirements, nutritional race and recovery strategies. I look forward to working with Sharmain again in the future.
