Who is The Diet Consultant?

Sharmain Davis is recognised as a credible and approachable Sport Dietitian within her field. She is the Director of the The Diet Consultant.com, was recently the Sport Dietitian for Watford FC during their 2015-2016 season helping them to stay in top flight Premier League Football and was also the Expert Sport Dietitian at the GlaxoSmithKline Human Performance Lab, responsible for advising elite athletes on ways to optimise performance through nutrition, prior to their big event.

Sharmain’s career started within the NHS, where she gained a vast amount of knowledge and experience within clinical nutrition and the benefits of working within a multi disciplinary team to provide the best possible care for her patients. She broadened her expertise by combining her clinical practice within her a role as Lead Nutritionist at Bath Rugby Union and Nutritionist at Harlequins during the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons, notably very successful seasons for the clubs.

Sharmain provided a different approach within sessions, one that helped the boys to explore their ambivalence to change and motivated them to focus on eating for performance.

She is a member with the Gastroenterology and the Sports Nutrition Specialist Groups, a full member with the British Dietetic Association and Registered Dietitian with the Health Care Professionals Council.

Sharmain regularly contributes to media  as a spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association, you can find her in publications such as The Express, Four Four Two Performance, Men’s Health and Coach Magazine.   She is currently consulting to private clinical patients and elite athletes; she provides bespoke nutrition plans that are tailored to her client’s lifestyle, goals and food preferences, specialising in performance sports nutrition, weight management and gut health.

What’s different about us?

We connect the dots between performance nutrition, clinical nutrition and general healthy eating. It’s rare to speak to a client who has just one issue or goal, for example an athlete might want to improve performance but requires advice regarding Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). An overweight client who has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes may want to lose weight as well as improve glycaemic control. With this specialist experience we can offer the ‘Complete Nutrition Package’, so that all issues are considered, and the advice given is suggested to work synergistically in achieving the desired goals.

Nutrition science is continually updated with new research often leaving us with more questions and making considerations about the nutrition guidelines we thought we once knew (thats science).  It’s important for us to stay up to date with this research so that we can provide you with the most accurate advice and practical application. We hear so much ‘nutrition confusion’ everyday…a plethora of conflicting messages about what to eat and what not to eat, literally consume us! We feel passionate about helping to set the record straight, to clean up the clutter and demystify the diet dilemmas.
